AGROLAB Agrar und Umwelt GmbH in Kiel triples its total area
The Kiel Environmental Laboratory has exceptional expansion possibilities on the Business Campus and is increasing its total area from around 2,000 m² to 7,200 m². Thus AGROLAB is further expanding its leading position in the environmental sector and strengthening its site in the north. The analytical focus is on solids, asbestos and legionella. In the next three to five years, the number of employees is to be almost tripled. With these developments AGROLAB will become an important employer in the region. Kiel without its two labs would be unimaginable.

Determination of thiourea compounds (PTU/ETU) and dithiocarbamates in baby food
From now on we can offer the determination of propylene-thiourea (PTU), ethylene-thiourea (ETU) and Propineb residues in food and especially in infant formulae, follow-on formulae, cereal-based complementary foods and foods for infants and young children at AGROLAB LUFA GmbH in Kiel.

The latest EU proposal provides for different maximum levels depending on the type of herb. If the members of the responsible SCoPAFF 1) of the EU Commission agree on 23.6. in their next meeting, the new limits could already apply in July.

EFSA Scientific Opinion on the Risk Assessment of Ochratoxin A in Food
Following a request from the European Commission to EFSA in order to update its 2006 evaluation on Ochratoxin A (OTA) in food, EFSA published a scientific opinion of the Expert Panel on Contaminants in the Food Chain (CONTAM Panel) which assessed the risks to human health related to the presence of ochratoxin A (OTA) in food.
